Ellen Valenton

migrated to Australia from the Philippines in 1987 with her husband and five children. She was introduced to folk art by her cousin Tess Valenton Yap and has never stopped painting since.

Her first book was published in 1995 by Topmill Publishing Company and following its success, she produced two more. Ellen is a contributor to the popular Folk Art and Decorative Painting magazine and featured as the profile artist in the magazine's 2003 year book.

Ellen was invited by Chroma Australia to become a Teacher support member, conducting demonstrations and workshops in various art shows and exhibitions.

She is an accredited teacher with the Folk and Decorative Artists Association of Australia and member of Friends Through Folk Art Guild and Mountains and Rivers Folk and Decorative Association of Australia. A renowned artist and respected teacher, Ellen has also been the recipient of prestigious awards at local art shows.

Ellen owns Ellenvale Cottage Folk Art Studio, a "home away from home" for her and her dedicated students. Whether you paint for pleasure, business or have never painted before, Ellen's folk art classes cater for everyone. Ellen also runs day workshops for beginners to advanced painters with special guest art teachers from around Australia. Her daughter Kristin also conducts children's art classes with her own unique style.
